Hot Scholar is a pilot program of professional development designed to build researchers’ skills and confidence in giving public presentations. It is delivered through a series of hour-long workshops, focusing on public-speaking skills and the dynamics and dramaturgy of live performance. Hot Scholar includes peer-to-peer practice, feedback sessions and pitching tasks. Participants in the program learn to manage their nerves as they explore different techniques to improve their delivery of readings and conference papers and promote increased audience engagement.
