On Wednesday 6 June, research students in the non/fictionLab met for the first HDRLab event for 2018. We welcomed new members and spoke about our plans for the group. We are excited to explore each others’ practices in a hands on way, and to share this with the wider Lab and public.
After some chalk-and-cheese brainstorming (chalk on the blackboard, cheese in our stomachs), here are some terms we associate with the HDRLab:
quick n dirty
shake n bake
These are some questions we are asking:
How does your thinking become a process for making?
How can your frame broaden my practice?
What’s ‘out there’ that can provoke what is ‘in here’?
The next HDRLab meet-up will be on Wednesday 29 August. Designer and PhD candidate Yaron Meron will lead us through a design activity drawn from his practice-led research into communication design and performativity. During this workshop we will look at design issues and ideas, play with design processes, and think ‘like designers’ about our own research practice.
