We propose an atmospheric literary history of the South eastern region of Australia; an area that has a clearly interconnected constellation of communities, cultures, industries and landscapes. Within this project we plan to study peri-regions of interest – such as the Mallee – and to construct a literary history out of a constellation of (often neglected) texts.
In this ‘sounding’ we wish to apply our atmospheric methodologies to the Kurangk/Coorong, as a way of testing them out. Our process is to assemble a range of literary texts, following them into their ecological situation, which includes weathers, places, journeys, and people, and other story-telling practices.
